Leena Chandavarkar, born on August 29, 1950, in Dharwad, Karnataka, was raised in a disciplined Konkani Marathi family. Her father, an army officer, inspired a structured upbringing, while she discovered a love for the arts early on, taking part in school plays and fostering her acting ambitions.
Leena’s debut came when she starred alongside Vinod Khanna in Sunil Dutt’s film Man Ka Meet, released in 1968. The movie was a huge hit and established Leena as an actor in the industry.
Some of Leena’s hit films include Humjoli, Honeymoon, Mehboob Ki Mehndi, Manchali, Dil Ka Raja, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Bidaai, Pritam, Bairaag, Kaid, and Yaaron Ka Yaar.

Despite such a fulfilling career, tragedy struck Leena’s personal life. She married Siddharth, son of Dayanand Bandodkar, the first Chief Minister of Goa, at 25. However, Siddharth passed away shortly after the wedding.
In 1980, at the age of 30 and seven months pregnant, she married legendary singer Kishore Kumar in both a registered and a Hindu ceremony. Tragically, Kishore Kumar passed away when she was just 37.
