Ramya Krishnan is a South Indian actress who has also made her mark in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema. She embarked on her acting journey in 1985 with the Tamil film Vellai Manasu alongside actor Y.G. Mahendran, and it is said that at that time, Ramya was merely 13 years old and in the eighth grade. She has appeared in over 200 films across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam.
In Bollywood, she featured in films such as Wajood, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan opposite Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda and Raveena Tandon, Shapath, Loha, Chahat opposite Shah Rukh Khan, Pooja Bhatt and Naseeruddin Shah, Banarasi Babu, Criminal, Parampara, Khalnayak, and Dayavan. However, Ramya Krishnan gained immense popularity for her role as Sivagami Devi in Bahubali, and she has received four Filmfare Awards, three Nandi Awards, and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award. Additionally, Ramya Krishnan is a trained dancer in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi.
She made her debut on the digital platform with Queen in 2019. In 2022, Ramya starred in the sports action film Liger, produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Puri Jagannadh, alongside Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday. The 2023 Tamil movie Jailer showcased Ramya in a leading role as Rajinikanth’s wife, directed by Nelson Dhilipkumar.
