Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, who had once starred in a 100-crore blockbuster, faced a heartbreaking turn in her career. After completing half of the shoot for the film Chance Pe Dance alongside Shahid Kapoor, the filmmakers unexpectedly replaced her with Genelia D’Souza. Director Ken Ghosh later explained that Jiah’s chemistry with Shahid seemed too friendly and that she wasn’t performing her role as expected.
After the release of Chance Pe Dance, Jiah Khan claimed that she was asked to leave the film due to the director’s questionable intentions and poor treatment of her. Disillusioned by the cold attitude of Bollywood filmmakers, she left India and moved to London. This actress was none other than Jiah Khan.
In a phone conversation, Jiah shared her feelings about the experience. According to a DNA India report, she revealed, “When this happened, I silently endured it. I kept asking myself, why did this happen to me? But I never questioned their decision, and silently left hoping that this would be the end of it.”
She further expressed, “A film is like a marriage. When it breaks, it feels terrible. But I had decided not to speak ill of anyone. It wasn’t like I didn’t know what was being said about me, but I decided not to stoop so low.”
Jiah Khan was raised in London but moved to Mumbai to pursue her dreams. At just 6 years old, after watching Urmila Matondkar’s film Rangeela, she decided she wanted to become an actress. Jiah made her Bollywood debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s film Nishabd but gained massive fame with the 2008 blockbuster Ghajini, one of the highest-grossing films of the year. She went on to appear in Housefull in 2010.
Jiah Khan was born on February 20, 1988, in New York, but grew up and was educated in London. Along with acting, she also had a passion for singing. Her father was an American businessman, and her mother was an actress in Hindi cinema. When Jiah was just two years old, her father left the family. Her aunt was a famous actress in Pakistan.
Struggling with personal issues, Jiah Khan tragically took her own life. In her final letter, she mentioned actor Sooraj Pancholi. Jiah’s mother accused Sooraj of causing her daughter’s death, but he was later cleared of all charges due to a lack of evidence. Jiah Khan’s untimely and painful demise shocked everyone, and her story remains one of the most tragic in Bollywood.
