Today we will talk about a film, which is considered one of the best horror films in Bollywood. It became a hit at the box office and one of the most memorable films of the lead actor and actress. The film was so successful that it offered stiff competition to other films released in 2002, including Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s Devdas, that won over 58 awards. The film we are talking about is Vikram Bhatt’s Raaz, featuring Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea in lead roles.

Made on a budget of Rs 5.25 crore, Raaz was a blockbuster hit, grossing over Rs 30 crore worldwide. Apart from Devdas, the film gave tough competition to other releases of 2002, including Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Aankhen, Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Company, and Deewangee. Stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn acted in these films but still, could not compete with the box collections of Raaz.

Raaz won several accolades for its brilliant execution and storytelling. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt won the International Indian Film Academy award under the best screenplay category. While, Vikram Bhatt earned the Stardust Award under the dream director category.

Moreover, the film’s music was composed by the most sought-after duo of those times, Nadeem Saifi and Shravan Rathod. Songs like Aapke Pyaar Mein Hum, Jo Bhi Kasmein, Kitna Pyaara Hai, Main Agar Saamne, and others became fans favourite.

According to TOI report, Bipasha and Dino were not the first choice for Raaz. The role of Dino Morea was first offered to Anil Kapoor but he denied it. Also actress Lisa Ray, was offered the role of Bipasha Basu but she dropped out due to personal reasons.
