In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, there are countless films created by visionary filmmakers; however, there are some directors who stand out for their grand visuals and larger-than-life storytelling. One such similar story is of a director who is known for his legacy of action, scale and spectacle. From blowing up cars to creating India’s first cop universe, he has delivered many adrenaline-pumping films, and now he is all set to deliver another ambitious and emotionally powerful film, a gripping biopic that dives deep into the real-life heroics of one of Mumbai’s most respected police officers, Rakesh Maria.

The director that we are talking about is none other than Rohit Shetty. His next highly anticipated project is with John Abraham, who will be seen in the lead role. This will be the first collaboration of Rohit Shetty and John Abraham together. John, who has earlier played a similar role in films like Batla House (2019) and the Force series, will have a natural edge because of his previous work.

About the Film and More

The film centres around inspiration from real-life events and focuses on the extraordinary career of Rakesh Maria, a legendary figure in Mumbai’s police force. Known for leading some of India’s biggest, most high-profile investigations, including the 1993 Bombay blasts, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the German Bakery blast, and the Sheena Bora murder case, Maria’s life has always been layered, intense, and full of high-pressure moments that shaped the nation’s security narrative.

As per reports, the shooting is currently underway in South Mumbai and Mira Road, with earlier sequences shot at iconic spots like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dongri, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. As the reports suggest, the production will be massive, involving nearly 580 actors. Rohit had revealed this during the launch of Rakesh Maria’s second book, When It All Began. The film’s current schedule spans 65 days across Mumbai and Wai.

He also shared that the most challenging sequence to recreate was the 26/11 police control room operation. Speaking about it, Rohit shared, “In four hours, there were 1300 calls. So many officers were on the field, which no film has shown.”

With John Abraham leading and Rohit Shetty directing, this biopic promises an explosive yet heartfelt tribute to real heroes who fight behind the scenes.
