When we think of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan together, we think of films like Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Om Shanti Om, Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam and more, where the duo captivated fans with their on-screen chemistry and memorable performances. However, there is one movie, which is surely not one of the most rememberable one, but saw Shah Rukh and Salman in cameo appearances. We are talking about 1996-released Dushman Duniya Ka.
Helmed by Mehmood, the film features Jeetendra and Sumalatha in lead roles, with special appearances by Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. It tells the tragic story of a young boy named Lucky, who falls into a bad company, leading to drug addiction and criminal behaviour. His father Mahesh and mother Reshma try to change him but Lucky’s involvement in crimes keeps getting worse. The film highlights the devasting impact of drug addiction on families and the moral dilemmas faced by parents trying to save their children from such vices.
Despite the presence of prominent stars, the film did not perform well at the box office and received negative reviews. The poster of the film featured Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, leading audiences to believe they had substantial roles; however both actors only made brief cameo appearances, which may have contributed to audience disappointment and the film’s poor reception.
According to IMDb trivia, when the film was initially launched, it was titled Lucky Boy. However, filmmaker Mehmood later decided to change the title. The film was inspired by renowned singer Lucky Ali’s struggles with drug addiction during his youth and Mehmood had hoped to cast Ali in the lead role, but he declined the offer.
