A preconceived notion that is often popular among viewers is that if a movie is made with a high budget, it has to be a hit. Another perception that also makes rounds in people’s minds is that if a movie has big actors, then there are chances of the film doing well. However, sometimes, some movies, despite having both, fail to work and make an impact. Today, we will talk about a film that had a reported budget of Rs 180 crore. However, it did not turn out as expected on the big screen.
The movie we are talking about is a remake of an English film. The original was released in 1994 and was a huge box office hit and critical success. However, on the other hand, the remake was a flop. If you are wondering which film we are talking about, then the movie is Laal Singh Chaddha.
Released on August 11, 2022, the movie was helmed by Advait Chandan and produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Jyoti Deshpande, and Ajit Andhare. The film is an adaptation of the 1994 English hit film Forrest Gump. The movie featured Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles. Apart from these two, the film also had Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in key roles.
The 2-hour 39-minute film revolved around the story of a boy who is specially challenged. The role is played by Aamir. The film shows how a simple-minded yet kind-hearted man unwittingly becomes a witness to several significant historical events in India while chasing his love and dreams.
In an interview, Aamir Khan opened up about the movie and said it took 14 years to make this film and the film has been shot in 100 different locations. However, when the results were not as desired, it was a setback for Aamir. He revealed that he cried for days after the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. Kareena plays the love interest of Aamir.
Made for Rs 180 crore, Laal Singh Chaddha only earned Rs 61.36 crore on the big screen. The film has a rating of 5.6 on IMDb.
