Many actresses in South Indian cinema have crossed language barriers to become pan-India icons, with names like Jayalalitha, Rekha, Sridevi, and Jayaprada resonating with Hindi audiences. However, these actresses primarily worked as leading ladies. Among them, there was one notable exception, a performer who never played lead roles but was more popular than many heroines of her era.
