He ruled the box office in 1970 and 1971 with films like The Train, Sachcha Jhootha, Safar, Aan Milo Sajna, Kati Patang, Mehboob Ki Mehndi, Anand, Andaz, Maryada, Haathi Mere Saathi, Chhoti Bahu, and Khamoshi. In 1972, 10 of his films also became hits, including Shehzada, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Bawarchi, Apna Desh, Amar Prem, Joru Ka Ghulam, and Bangaru Babu, leading to his record of 17 hit films that remains unbroken.
Rajesh Khanna coached Jeetendra prior to Jeetendra’s initial film audition. They had been friends since their school days at St. Sebastian’s Goan High School, where they were known by their real names, Jatin Khanna (Rajesh Khanna) and Ravi Kapoor (Jeetendra). Khanna assisted Jeetendra in getting ready for his audition for the movie ‘Geet Gaya Patharone.’

In 1990, he ventured into politics and in 1991, he ran for the Delhi Lok Sabha seat, defeating Shatrughan Sinha. He served as the Delhi MP from 1991 to 1996.
