In today’s time, trained professional are available on the sets, to ensure actors’ comfort during the love making scenes. But, there was a period, when there was no such thing, and actresses felt vulnerable and unsafe while filming intimate scenes. Unfortunately, one doesn’t have to look too far back in Indian cinema to find such unsettling incidents. In one of the most infamous incidents of this kind, a 40-year-old superstar lost control while doing an intimate scene with Madhuri Dixit, leaving her uncomfortable and in tears. Madhuri Dixit started her career at the age of 16-17 with the film Abodh. After this, the actress did her second film Dayavan with superstar Vinod Khanna, released in the year 1988. The film created a ruckus at the box office and received widespread love from the masses. Madhuri played the role of Vinod Khanna’s wife in the film and as per character’s requirements, there were few intimate scenes between the two.
One of the most famous sequences in the film was the song ‘Aaj Phir Tum Pe Pyaar Aaya Hai’ and in that Vinod Khanna had to kiss Madhuri. As per reports, during the lovemaking scene, the 42-year-old actor did not stop kissing her and left her lip so bad that she was bleeding and in shock. People on the sets recalled that the young actress, who was yet to make big in Bollywood, couldn’t stop herself from crying. Later, the director Feroz Khan and actor Vinod Khanna apologised to Madhuri and also paid a hefty amount for doing the kissing scene.
Later, when the film released on-screen, there was a lot of controversy about the kissing scene. As per reports, a notice was sent to Feroz Khan to remove that scene from the film. But, the filmmaker refused to cut any of the scene. Also, when Madhuri requested to remove her kissing scene with Vinod Khanna, he silenced her by paying Rs 1 crore.
After that, Vinod Khanna and Madhuri never worked together in any film. Even though, Dayavan was a big success, but the two never came together on-screen. Vinod Khanna’s career started to witness the downfall after the early 90s. During that time, Madhuri’s stardom was on another level with films like Tezaab, Dil, Beta, and Hum Aapke Hain Koun. She became the highest-paid actress during the 90s. Madhuri was one of the top Bollywood stars until she took break after her marriage in 2001.
