Moushumi Chatterjee, one of Bollywood’s legendary actresses, married at the young age of 15. She was the first actress of her time to appear in lead roles after marriage. Moushumi believed that at the time, there was no actor more handsome than Vinod Khanna, but today, Aamir Khan is her favorite hero.
Moushumi Chatterjee, a talented actress, worked in numerous memorable films during her career. She was especially known for her successful pairing with Jeetendra. She married at a young age but still managed to carve a successful career in the film industry. Her on-screen performances, particularly in the roles she played, remain iconic.
Moushumi began her acting career at the age of just 10 and made her Bollywood debut with the Bengali film Balika Badhu. She went on to work in both Bengali and Hindi films, gaining recognition for her diverse roles.
In several interviews, Moushumi has spoken about her first film. She once shared that she felt no particular happiness when the film wasn’t a hit, but she was overjoyed when she saw the film’s poster, featuring her as the main image.
Moushumi married Jayant Mukherjee, the son of famous singer and music director Hemant Kumar, at a young age. By 17, she was a mother. Throughout her career, she always worked on her own terms and often mentioned in interviews that she was happy in her husband’s home, taking on acting projects as they came her way.
Though Moushumi was a huge fan of Dev Anand, when asked on The Kapil Sharma Show about the most handsome actor of her time, she stated that there was no one more handsome than Vinod Khanna.
In an interview with R Anmol, Moushumi was asked who her favorite current star was. She responded by saying that while many actors were doing good work, she particularly liked Aamir Khan, praising all the roles he took on.
Apart from her acting, Moushumi is also known for her bubbly personality. She enjoys life to the fullest, bringing joy to every place she visits. On The Kapil Sharma Show, she even managed to silence Kapil Sharma with her wit. There was even a time in a film when she gave Sunny Deol a taste of his own medicine.
Notably, in the 1980 film Maang Bharo Sajna, she appeared alongside Jeetendra. Their pairing in this film was a huge hit, and Moushumi’s portrayal of Jeetendra’s wife was widely appreciated. The film also featured Rekha and became a major success.
