New Delhi: Veteran actor Tom Alter breathed his last on Friday night in his Mumbai residence. The actor was battling stage four skin cancer. Alter was known for his acting and writing skills. However, not many know that Alter was a sports lover as well. In fact, it was him who produced Sachin Tendulkar’s first video interview when the latter was just 15.

Once during an interaction with The Times of India, Alter, recalling the interview, said how Dilip Vengsarkar introduced him to the 15-year-old Tendulkar who was practicing in the nets with the Bombay (Mumbai) team. Also Read - Mumbai: NCB Conducts Raids at 3 Places In Bandra | Details Here

“I clearly remember the interaction. It was his first video interview. I wouldn’t say he was naive, but rather innocent and soft spoken. Though a little shy in front of the camera, the boy was very confident without being a show-off,” Alter had said during his interaction with TOI. The late actor was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in the year 2008. Apart from television, Alter did theatre as well. Sports was his first love and he wanted to be a cricketer. Alter has also written columns on cricket.
