Actor Taapsee Pannu and director Anubhav Sinha are garnering praises for their upcoming film Thappad ever since the trailer has hit the screens. The list of the admirers also includes Union Minister Smriti Irani‘s name now. She recently took to social media to write a beautiful post that talked about ending domestic violence against women. Irani extended her support to both Taapsee and Anubhav and mentioned how she is with the team of the film in their mission to encourage women to speak out against violence. In her post, the Minister for Women and Child Development quoted many statements that a woman hears in her life when it comes to justifying violence in marriage. The former actor further mentioned that she might not agree with the political ideology of the director and the actor but she wants the audience to lend their support to this story because ‘It’s not ok to hit a woman… not even a slap… not even JUST one slap.” Here’s what she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post: Also Read - Entertainment News Today January 31, 2020: Thappad Trailer: Taapsee Pannu Starrer Addresses All 'Unfairs' in Relationship After 'Just One Slap'

“How many have heard “aurat ko hi adjust karna padta hai
How many think “ki maar pitai sirf gareeb auraton ke hi pati karte hai”
How many believe “ki educated aadmi kabhi haath nahi uthata”
How many tell their girls their daughter in laws“ koi baat nahi beta aisa to humare saath bhi hua lekin dekho aaj kitne khush hai“
I might not support the political ideology of the director or may disagree with some actors on some issues but this is a story that I will definitely watch and hope people watch it with their families. It’s not ok to hit a woman … not even a slap … not even JUST one slap

Taapsee, who is already being widely appreciated for her strong performance in the film, as seen in the trailer, replied on the post and thanked Irani. She commented, “Thank you ma’am. It will be our pleasure to show you the film. I am glad we all are together where this issue is concerned 🙏🏼” (sic)

Thappad features Raghav Chaitanya in the role of Taapsee’s husband. The film is set in Delhi and shows the courage of a woman who has dedicated her entire life for the well-being of her husband and the family but the man doesn’t think twice before hitting her ‘for the first time’ at a house party. She seeks legal help to make sure that everyone understands how it’s not about ‘one slap’, it’s about ‘the slap’ and the man who has no right to hit a woman – not once, not twice, never ever!
