Trending Bollywood News Today, March 23: Actor Katrina Kaif might just be seen in director Vikas Bahl‘s next film which is a slice-of-life drama also featuring Amitabh Bachchan. Tentatively titled Deadly, the film is centred around a funeral and shows the journey of self-discovery of its protagonist. A report in Mumbai Mirror suggests that the director, who helmed Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 last year, took the idea to Katrina who loved the story and agreed to come on board. The discussions happened in February and the film was scheduled to begin in May but as the industry experiences a shutdown due to the growing coronavirus infection, the makers have paused until normalcy returns. The report quoted a source close to the development saying that it’s a beautiful story with humourous undertones. Katrina is currently taking careful steps in signing only those films that either explore her acting prowess or give her an opportunity to entertain the audience at a grand level. At such a point in her career, a light comedy that is high on emotions and talks about relationships deeply is something that would only add to Katrina’s resume in a better sense. The source said, “She is looking to push the envelope and explore new genres in this phase of her career which, in a way, is a journey of self-discovery too.” Also Read - Amitabh Bachchan Talks About COVID-19 Restrictions in Maharashtra: 'Time To Reassess, Refurbish'
The film is a father-daughter story and while Katrina has given her nod, the idea is still with Amitabh Bachchan who has been approached to play the role of the father. “Vikas and Katrina have discussed the central character of the father with Amitabh Bachchan who has shown a keen interest in doing the film. However, he is yet to sign on the dotted line,” said the source. Also Read - Thappad Actor Pavail Gulati To Feature As Amitabh Bachchan's Son in Goodbye
Apart from Deadly now, Katrina is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Sooryavanshi with Akshay Kumar. She has signed a horror-comedy tentatively titled Phone Bhoot with Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday. After this, she is set to enter the Tiger franchise with Salman Khan and then will work with Ali Abbas Zafar in a female-centric superhero film.
Notably, Vikas Bahl is the same director who was accused of sexual harassment by an ex-employee of his own production house (that now stands dismantled). He was given a clean chit by Reliance Entertainment, the production company who was looking into the matter and also backing his film Super 30.
