In the ever-evolving world of cinema, fame is always fleeting. What might be trending one day can be replaced tomorrow, and something that might not even exist before can become an overnight sensation. One such similar story is this week’s TRP shake-up. With the much-awaited return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, the show has managed to take the number 1 spot in its debut week with an impressive rating of 2.3. However, this show that evoked nostalgia and is backed by a compelling mix of emotional storytelling and the legacy has also broken the winning streak of Anupamaa that was dominating the charts for months.
With the grand return of Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay, this show has once again proved why it was considered a cult classic of its time. The makers have successfully captured both old loyalists and curious new viewers who are invested in seeing this show.
Meanwhile, Rupali Ganguly’s Anupamaa, which held the No. 1 spot for a long time, saw a marginal dip, landing at the second position. While both Anupamaa and Kyunki 2 have nearly the same rating, Kyunki’s new momentum and novelty factor have made it win at the top of the scale.
Taking the third place this week is Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH), which slipped from the second spot. This show, featuring Samridhii Shukla and Rohit Purohit, also saw a minor dip in viewership, moving from 2.1 to 2.0 points. The current storyline revolving around Abhira uncovering Maira’s truth continues to hold attention.
However, what caught everyone off guard was the reality show Laughter Chefs 2, which secured the fourth spot. Its grand finale episode, which crowned Elvish Yadav and Karan Kundrra as winners, garnered 2.0 points, outperforming many scripted dramas.
Last one on the list in the top five shows is the beloved sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which has managed to maintain its TRP to 1.9 but has dropped from third to fifth position.
Other shows like Udne Ki Aasha and newer launches (Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shehad Shehad, Tu Dhadkan Main Dil) are yet to climb the TRP ladder and intrigue the audience.
In this unpredictable world of showbiz, where TRP changes every week, this week’s chart proves that comebacks, nostalgia, and fresh energy can still change the game, and the the television industry is highly competitive.
