Kareena Kapoor Khan recently joined Vicky Kaushal, Shabana Azmi, Rajkummar Rao and Anna Ben for a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter India. During the candid conversation, she talked about how the result of Laal Singh Chaddha affected both herself and her co-star, Aamir Khan. She also mentioned that the actor was deeply affected by the film’s box-office failure.

The host brought up the actor’s earlier comment about reaching out to Aamir Khan and director Advait Chandan after the film underperformed. Recalling that time, she said she is ‘the most proudest’ of having been part of the film, which she described as ‘beautiful’ and ‘honest’. Praising Aamir Khan, she said, “Of course, he was shattered.” She shared an anecdote about meeting Aamir Khan at an event, where he jokingly said to her, “Picture nahi chali humari na, tu baat toh karegi na mujhse?”

She added, “I feel what Rupa has done more for me than what a Singham Again can do.”

She described her character Rupa in Laal Singh Chaddha as ‘beautifully written’, which allowed her to explore the role deeply. Unlike typical commercial blockbusters, Laal Singh Chaddha was made ‘with all heart’. She said, “Everybody gave it their best, and we didn’t think it would hit Rs 500 crore. It was about the honesty of the story.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan also shared a personal moment from the film’s production

The actor also revealed that she discovered she was pregnant with her second son, Jeh, during the filming of Laal Singh Chaddha. At the time, they were about 60% through the shoot, and she confided in Aamir Khan, after being encouraged by her husband, Saif Ali Khan. She was moved by Aamir Khan’s supportive response as he reassured her, “I’m happy for you. We’ll wait for you and we’ll finish the movie together.” She mentioned that this moment reinforced her belief in the industry, saying, “It made me realise there are people who truly value you and your decisions.”
