Tusshar Kapoor on love and marriage, ‘I am open to finding a partner, but…’

In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, celebrities are always under constant public gaze. From their red carpet appearances, their post-gym looks, or their interpersonal stories, they are always under scrutiny. One such similar story is of a celebrity who has chosen to carve his own path, both as an artist and as a single father. Completing 25 years in the film industry next year, the Golmaal star reflects on the ups and downs of his career, his experience as a single parent, and his overlooked outlook on love and life.

Tusshar, who made his debut with Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai in 2001, said he’s busier than ever. However, in between the packed shooting schedules, it’s not just work that’s keeping him occupied, but also he is busy doing father duties. He said, ‘If I had to relive those years again, I would do those same things because I wouldn’t have been who I am today if I hadn’t made certain mistakes’

Tusshar Kapoor on Career Lessons and Industry Pressure

Speaking about his initial days in the industry, he spoke about how failures have shaped him, “After my first film, when a few films didn’t work, it took me a while to understand that this is not in my control. So, the learning curve was when I toughened up and I realised that. I just focused on my work.”

He added, “You have to live with it, and it does affect you. But you can’t let it consume or shake you to the point where you can’t do your work.”

Speaking on the evolving nature of the industry, he said, “Today, you’re not dependent on any one medium. You can wait for your film to find its due wherever it does; so you can do more work, and you’re not at the mercy of the box office.”

On Legacy and Longevity

Being the son of veteran actor Jeetendra and brother of Ekta Kapoor, Tusshar shared how he experiences a mix of privilege and pressure “I do believe there’s a concerted effort to pull you down if you come from a legacy, especially since my father had done over 200 films. But I didn’t consciously plan to block the noise out; you can’t do that. I wouldn’t want to have it any other way.”

On Fatherhood and Love

Tusshar, who is a proud single father to his 9-year-old son, Laksshya, said, “I have inculcated in him from childhood the idea that one has to understand that every family is different and unique. He understands that I wanted to be a father, and he’s the reason why I’m a father.”

Speaking about his personal life, he said, “I’m open to finding a life partner in the future, but that is something I cannot predict. However, there’s no vacuum. I really value and cherish this freedom.”
