Udta Punjab, the movie based on drug menace of the state Punjab is apparently being asked by Central Board of Film Certification to not use the word ‘Punjab’ in the title. The committee headed by Pahlaj Nihalani,has allegedly suggested 89 cuts in the movie and want the word Punjab removed as it could be defamatory to the state of Punjab.
CBFC want the film in no way should represent Punjab, the characters can have Punjabi caricatures but should not be from the land of Punjab but from any other fictional land. (ALSO READ: Udta Punjab song Ud-daa Punjab teaser: Shahid Kapoor is dark and delicious!)
Anurag Kashyap, who has produced the movie last night took his agnst against onto twitter and tweeted, “I always wondered what it felt like to live in North Korea .. Ab to plane pakadney ki bhi zaroorat nahin..”

Punjab has been facing the drug issue since a long time now, and the shocking reality is that all the officials and governing bodies of Punjab are aware of the havoc there, still the improvement in the condition is mythical. Last month Aam Admi Party and Congress both drew attention towards the same issue. When AAP’s leader Kumar Vishwas came out with his video about the drug addiction and exploitation of youth in Punjab, the video went viral.

He also mentioned in his tweet that he doesn’t want the issue to be politicized and those who are looking for their political benefits can go and pick their own fight.
