Urvashi Rautela apologises to Saif Ali Khan for her ‘insensitive’ remark about the knife attack: ‘I feel ashamed…’
Urvashi Rautela took to her social media platform to apologize for her remarks about Saif Ali Khan's stabbing incident after netizens called her out for her tone-deaf statements.
Earlier this week, Saif Ali Khan was the victim of a shocking attack when an intruder broke into his home in the early hours of the morning, with a knife. The incident, which occurred around 2:30 AM, prompted immediate medical intervention as Saif Ali Khan was rushed to the hospital. He underwent surgery to treat his injuries, which were described as severe and life-threatening. His PR team later issued a statement confirming the break-in attempt and requested privacy while the police continued their investigation.
Amidst this alarming situation, Urvashi Rautela made an insensitive comment that sparked outrage on social media. The actress, currently riding high on the success of her latest film Daaku Maharaj, appeared in an interview and when asked about the brutal attack on Saif Ali Khan, she initially expressed sympathy, calling it “an unfortunate incident.” However, instead of focusing on the gravity of the attack, she quickly shifted the conversation to flaunting her expensive gifts.
Urvashi Rautela’s Tone-Deaf Statement
In the interview, flaunting her expensive diamond watch and ring, she said, “It is very unfortunate. Daaku Maharaj ke Rs 105 crore ke success ke baad, my mother ne mujhe gift ki diamond-studded Rolex and my father ne mujhe ye choti si mini-watch gift kari. Abhi humne 105 paar kar diya hai toh it’s just a gift, but then hum confident nahi feel karenge bahar openly. We cannot wear kuch bhi. Ek insecurity ho jati hai ki anybody can attack us toh woh bohot zyada unfortunate hai.”
As soon as the interview was released, social media users began to call out the actress for her thoughtless comments, labelling her ‘out of touch’ and ‘delusional’.
Urvashi Rautela’s Apology Letter
In response, the actor took to her social media platforms to apologize for her remarks. She expressed regret for allowing her excitement over her film and the gifts to overshadow the empathy that should have been shown to Saif Ali Khan and his family.
She said, “Dear Saif Ali Khan sir, I hope this message finds you in strength. I am writing with a deep sense of regret and heartfelt apology. Until now, I was completely unaware of the intensity of the situation you are facing. I feel ashamed that I allowed myself to be consumed by the excitement surrounding Daaku Maharaaj and the gifts I was receiving, instead of pausing to acknowledge and understand what you are going through. Please accept my sincerest apologies for being so ignorant and insensitive. ”
In her statement, she conveyed deep shame for her actions and pledged to do better in the future. She also offered her support to Saif Ali Khan, saying that if he ever needed help, she would be there for him. She said, “Now that I know the gravity of your case, I am deeply moved and want to extend my unwavering support. Your grace, dignity, and resilience during such a challenging time are truly admirable, and I have nothing but immense respect for your strength. If there is any way I can be of help or support, please do not hesitate to let me know. Once again, I am truly sorry, sir, for my earlier indifference. I promise to do better and to always prioritize compassion and understanding in the future.”
However, Urvashi Rautela deleted this post a while later.
