Chennai: Popular Tamil star Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Coolie’ is currently grabbing headlines on social media, as it was speculated that veteran actor Sathyaraj might collaborate with the Jailer actor. A news report published by India Today claimed that the two actors are collaborating together after 38 years for director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Coolie’. Scroll down to find more details.

Sathyaraj-Rajinikanth Reunite After 4 Decades

Several media reports indicated that Sathyaraj might play the villain in Coolie. However, it is now indicated that Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj will collaborate as friends in Kanagaraj’s high-octane thriller. This reunion comes after a hiatus of 38 years since their last shared screen presence in the 1986 blockbuster ‘Mr. Bharat’. The longstanding heated debate between Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth has invariably been a hot topic of conversation over the years.

In a fresh talk, The experienced actor shared his excitement about taking on the role as a sidekick to Rajinikanth in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s flick ‘Coolie’. Moreover, he spilled beans about his antagonist part in the upcoming Bollywood blockbuster ‘Sikandar,’ featuring Salman Khan and directed by AR Murugadoss. However, the official news is yet to be released by the filmmakers.

Rajinikanth’s Previous Collaboration with Sathyaraj

In the blockbuster ‘Mr Bharat’, Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj were the lead actors. Interestingly, Sathyaraj, who is actually four years younger than Rajinikanth, brilliantly performed the character of Rajinikanth’s father. Sathyaraj’s memorable acting in the film left an indelible impression and won him widespread acclaim. Earlier, Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth locked horns with each other during the Cauvery water dispute, where the Baahubali actor indirectly slammed the Lal Salaam actor. However, the intense argument between them went down to their fans which later erupted in a chaotic situation between the two legendary actors.

Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj’s Work Front

Sathyaraj was recently seen in films like Annapoorani and Singapore Saloon. Now the Baahubali actor will be soon playing a biopic on the current Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and an antagonist role in AR Murugadoss’ ‘Sikandar.’ On the other hand, Rajinikanth has appeared in films like Jailer and Lal Salaam in a cameo role. In early 2024, Rajini along with Sun Pictures dropped a short promo of Coolie where music maestro Ilayaraja sent a legal notice to the filmmakers for allegedly using a verse from one of his films.
