It was on Sunday that veteran actress Jayanthi had to be rushed to the hospital after she complained of having trouble breathing. The actress had to be admitted to the ICU and put on ventilator. However, she has been shifted out of the ICU as per latest reports and is recovering well. The actress, who has worked in over 500 films across Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada and Malayalam, was rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru. She has suffered from asthama for a long time now and that caused her condition to deteriorate. Talking to the media her son Krishna Kumar had revealed, ““She has been suffering from chronic asthma for a long time. When there was some issue with her breathing, the doctors advised to immediately hospitalize her.” He also said that while Jayanthi had asthma, this was the first time that the situation got out of control, requiring hospitalization. But thankfully, she is no more critical and as reports suggests, is responding well to the treatment. She may remain in the hospital under doctors’ observation for another couple of days before returning home. According a report on The Indian Express, senior actors of the Kannada film industry like Shivrajkumar, veteran actors Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Leelavathi, Vinod Raj, B Saroja Devi, actor-politician Tara and few others, visited Jayanthi at Vikram Hospital. The 73-year-old actress Jayanthi has been awarded two Karnataka State Film Awards for Best Actress, the President’s Medal for Best Actress and two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress throughout her career and has worked with legends like MG Ramachandran (MGR) and Dr Rajkumar, with whom she starred with in 45 movies. Kasturi Nivasa, Miss Leelavathi, Sri Krishnadevaraya and Edakallu Guddada Mele are some of her most celebrated works.
