Veteran TV And Film Actress Amita Udgata Passes Away Due To Lung Failure
The actress was undergoing treatment in CritiCare Hospital over the last four days and was put on life support.
Actress Amita Udgata, who starred as Dadi Bua from the popular TV show, Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi (KRPKAB), breathed her last on Monday night in Mumbai, due to lung failure. She was reportedly undergoing treatment in CritiCare Hospital over the last four days and was put on life support. She is best known for her roles in KRPKAB, Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, Maharana Pratap, Baba Aiso Varr Dhundo and Doli Armaanon Ki. She also worked with Delhi Doordarshan from 1979 to 1990. She is survived by her sons — Ruchin and Rishab Udgata.
The actress played the role of Dev’s (Shaheer Sheikh) Dadi Bua in KRPKAB, who entered the house during the wedding preparations. Her entry in the show, did add some drama to the popular show. Speaking about her death, actress Abha Parmar, who worked with Udgata in Rui Ka Bojh told India Today, “We were more like sisters than friends. I am from Kanpur and she was from Lucknow. I wasn’t aware that her condition so serious. I was supposed to visit her today. She was a great actress and a friend and we have faced life’s struggles together.”
The official Twitter handle of Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) confirmed Amita’s death with a condolence tweet. “#CINTAA expresses it’s deepest condolence on the sudden demise of #AmitaUdgata ji. May her soul Rest in Peace. @sushant_says @DJariwalla @deepakqazir @amitbehl1 @ayubnasirkhan @sanjaymbhatia @NupurAlankar @rakufired @rammakantdaayam @RajRomit,” CINTAA tweeted. She has also done films like, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘Sarbjit’ and Parineeti Chopra-Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’. Amita’s last rites will be performed on Thursday, as the family is reportedly waiting for her elder son’s arrival. May her soul rest in peace.
