The trailer of Mohanlal’s forthcoming film has released today. Earlier, it was announced that the Villain team will be coming out with the trailer during the Onam season, but the makers have released the latest trailer today and the investigative thriller seems quite intriguing.
Today, the Malayalam superstar took to Facebook to officially release the trailer of Villain. Within just an hour of this, the trailer has crossed over 2 lakh views. Looks like the trailer (before the release of the film) is all set to set a new record altogether. If this is the kind of response Mohanlal’s upcoming film’s trailer is receiving, the movie is, of course, going to break the box office record when it hits the big screens.
The 1-minute 42-second long trailer looks promising. In the trailer and first look poster, we could see that Mohanlal is sporting a salt-and-pepper look with a white beard. Looks like, his new look is inspired by Rajinikanth’s look in Kabali. What I love about this actor the most is that he’s been coming with movies after movies and they are not just any movies but amazing ones which are very well received at the box office. Every time he proves us that he has it in him. Also, there few Tamil lines in the film, which will make you fall in love all the more just like Premamdid (with Nivin Pauly‘s Malayalam and Malar’s Tamil); it’s magical to hear two beautiful languages in one scene.
Villain is touted to be an action crime thriller and is helmed by B Unnikrishnan. Besides Mohanlal, the film features Tamil actors Vishal (to play the antagonist) and Hansika Motwani(will be essaying the role of a singer), marking their debut in Malayalam cinema. Villain also stars Manju Warrier, who will be essaying the role of Mohanlal’s wife in the film. The film is bankrolled by Rockline Venkatesh.

Villain has an ensemble cast and apart from Mohanlal, Vishal, Hansika and Manju, the film also stars Siddique, Renji Panicker, Rashi Khanna, Telugu actor Srikanth, Chemban Vinod Jose, Aju Varghese, among others in pivotal roles. There are reports doing the rounds that the action thriller is slated to hit the big screens in October, but no official confirmation has been made; an exact release date is yet to be finalised.
