Dhanush and Kajol starrer VIP 2 is one of the most awaited films of 2017. The film’s release has been postponed a couple of times and we are just a few minutes away from knowing the official release date. The makers of the film announced yesterday that the release date, along with a ‘Raghuvaran Coming’ teaser, will be released at 7 pm on August 1. Speculations about Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 release date have reached an all time high ever since.
Now, as per our sources, the makers have zeroed in on August 11 as the release date. This is to make the most of the Independence Day weekend (August 15 falls on a Tuesday this year). The film’s lead star Dhanush urged earlier today on Twitter for media and fans to wait till his official announcement but word in the Tamil/Telugu trade circle has it that August 11 has been marked for VIP 2 release.
The source also has it that the makers were also considering August 5 as the release date but since it is just around the corner, they deemed the Friday falling next week as apt.

The film was earlier supposed to release on Dhanush’s birthday on July 28th. A sequel to the 2014 Tamil-language film Velaiilla Pattadhari, the film stars Amala Paul, Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthirakani apart from Dhanush and Kajol. The film also marks the Bollywood actress’ Telugu film debut and return to Tamil films after 10 years since Minsara Kanavu (2007). Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 or VIP 2 is releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages to reach a wider audience across India.
