Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic role in the early 2000s music video Kaanta Laga, passed away at the age of 42 following a sudden cardiac arrest. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai, where doctors declared her “brought dead.” Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, was reportedly with her.
Who is Shefali Jariwala’s husband, Parag Tyagi?
Parag Tyagi, the husband of late actress Shefali Jariwala, is a well-known face in Indian television and cinema. The couple, who tied the knot in August 2014, had been together for nearly a decade and even appeared on several reality shows together, including Nach Baliye Seasons 5 and 7, where their chemistry won hearts.
Born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Parag made his acting debut as Vinod Karanjkar in Pavitra Rishta (2009–2014) opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, one of Zee TV’s most popular shows. He later rose to greater prominence as the terrifying lead in Brahmarakshas (2016), a supernatural thriller loosely inspired by Bollywood’s Paheli.
He has also appeared in notable shows like Jodha Akbar, Kaala Teeka, Aghori, and Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. On the big screen, he was part of acclaimed films such as A Wednesday! (2008) and Sarkar 3 (2017) with Amitabh Bachchan, and even featured in the Telugu blockbuster Agnyaathavaasi (2018) opposite Pawan Kalyan.
Parag first met Shefali at a friend’s dinner party, where he was instantly smitten. At the time, Shefali was still healing from her 2009 divorce from musician Harmeet Singh (of Meet Bros fame). Though initially hesitant, Shefali was eventually won over by Parag’s patience and unwavering support.
The couple dated for nearly four years before getting married in 2014.
Through highs and lows, Parag stood by Shefali’s side—whether it was travelling to Ghaziabad during the COVID-19 lockdown for his father’s last rites or supporting her public disclosure about living with epilepsy, which impacted her career after Kaanta Laga. He also helped her navigate mental health struggles, always serving as her steady pillar.
