Arjun Rampal played gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli in the film Daddy, which hit the theatres last week. And boy, was he brilliant. It won’t be wrong to say that it was his best performance yet. Despite that the film didn’t work, all thanks to the poor narrative that let Arjun down. Now, Bollywood is giving us one more gangster drama this Friday. This one titled, Haseena Parkar stars Shraddha Kapoor as the protagonist, the sister of crime lord and a designated terrorist, Dawood Ibrahim. Shraddha is all set to show to the whole wide world that she is not just that girl next door, which she has played in almost all her films. Also Read - Spotted! One gangster drama has not done well, will its failure affect the upcoming film, that belongs to the same genre, we wondered. That is when we decided to call some trade experts and get their opinion on this. Also Read - Dhaakad New Poster Out: Arjun Rampal is 'Dangerous, Deadly And Cool' As Rudraveer

While Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) was of the opine that it all boils down to the fact if the film is entertaining or not as he said, “While Haseena belongs to the same genre that of a gangster drama. And it something that is very popular in India. We need to realise that every film is a whole different story, even though the two films are of the same genre. We have had a Great Grand Masti, which failed miserably and we’ve also had something like Grand Masti, which did really well. Similarly, we had a Rowdy Rathore, which did phenomenally well. And Action Jackson, which was of the same genre, it didn’t. So rather than looking at the genre, we need to look at if the film is made is engaging and entertaining. And that is what determines the fate of any film. In fact, there have been cases, when two movies of the same genre have released on the same day with one doing well, and one not. Ultimately, it’s all about how wide the audience you can appeal, engage and entertain to. And if a film does that, then anything else doesn’t matter.” ALSO READHaseena Parkar Screening: Was Shraddha Kapoor Mobbed By The Paparazzi? Komal Nahta (trade analyst and host of ETC Bollywood Business) also had a similar view as he said, “The audience views every film for what is worth. So I don’t think they carry it from one film to the other. And the two films are different from each other. Yes, the only similarity is that one movie is based on a gangster himself, while the other is based on the gangster’s sister. So it is a little far fetched to compare the two films. We can’t really put one film’s success or failure into another.”

Well, we hope that Shraddha impresses the masses and so does the film.
