There was a legit relationship between Kangana Ranaut and Aditya Pancholi and it remains one of Bollywood’s most talked-about controversies. Their affair, which began during the early days of Kangana’s career, ended on a sour note with serious accusations exchanged between the two. Kangana alleged physical abuse, while Aditya claimed she owed him money. Now, years later, Aditya’s wife, actress Zarina Wahab, shared her perspective on their affair.
In a candid interview with Lehren, Zarina addressed various controversies involving her family, including her husband’s alleged relation with Kangana. Zarina revealed that she was always cordial with the Queen actress. She shared that Kangana often visited their home and was treated kindly by both her and Aditya. “I don’t know what went wrong, but I always saw things he couldn’t, and eventually, it came to light,” she said, without delving into specifics.
When asked about Aditya being labeled abusive, Zarina denied the allegations, calling him a “sweetheart.” She joked that if anyone in their marriage were to get physical, it would be her. Zarina also claimed that some of Aditya’s girlfriends made such accusations because they didn’t get what they wanted from him. “His girlfriends accused him of these things because they didn’t get what they wanted,” revealed Wahab.
Kangana Ranaut’s past relationship with actor Aditya Pancholi attracted significant media attention, with both sides sharing their tumultuous experiences. Kangana had previously spoken about enduring severe mistreatment and emotional abuse during their time together. She told Bollywood Shaadis that Aditya hit her on the head when she was just 17. She retaliated by striking him with a sandal, leading both to sustain injuries. Kangana also said she had reached out to Zarina for help during that time.
Meanwhile, Aditya shared his version of events in a throwback interview with Mumbai Mirror, accusing Kangana of betrayal and revealing financial details about their relationship. In 2008, Kangana sought his help to purchase a house. “She needed around Rs 1 crore, so I stood as her guarantor and helped her secure a Rs 50 lakh loan from a banker friend. Additionally, I gave her Rs 55 lakh in cash. Of that, she has repaid Rs 25 lakh but still owes me Rs 30 lakh,” he claimed.
Aditya also described their relationship, stating, “We were practically like husband and wife. I was even building a house for us on Yari Road. We lived together for three years at a friend’s place. Kangana didn’t have any money when I first met her. It was on June 27, 2004 – I saw her sitting drenched on a bike with a guy from the Asha Chandra Acting Institute. She came up to me, said ‘hi,’ and introduced herself. I remembered a mutual friend had mentioned her and asked me to help her when she arrived in Mumbai. After that, Kangana started calling me persistently, and eventually, we met. She was initially a sweet, small-town girl, and I fell in love with her.”
Aditya also disclosed a significant turning point in their relationship during the shooting of Shakalaka Boom Boom. He admitted that Kangana had grown close to another actor. “I found messages she had sent to this actor while she was asleep, and they were far from innocent. It hurt because she had used similar words for me during a call from South Africa. That was the first time I hit her. We had a fight but eventually reconciled,” he revealed.
