Ganesh Chaturthi 2017 was celebrated from August 25, 2017, and will end on September 5, 2017. The ten-day festival’s end is marked by the immersion of the Ganesh Idol that was welcomed into buildings, societies or homes. Udwasana Mantra

The Udwasana Mantra needs to be chanted before moving the Ganesh Idol for visarjan. According to hindupad, the mantra is ‘Yagnena yagna mayajantha devaa: Thaani dharmaani pradhamaa nyaasan, theha naakam mahimaana ssanchamthe yatra poorve saadhyaassamthi devaa.

Ganesh Visarjan Puja Vidhi

The Ganpati idol is welcomed into the homes and buildings of people who prepare special meals and offerings for Lord Ganesha, and the idol is finally immersed on the date of Anant Chaturdashi, as per the Hindu Calendar. Anant Chaturdashi normally falls on the tenth day after Ganesh Chaturthi, however, Anant Chaturdashi 2017 falls 12 days after Ganpati Chaturthi. For the Ganesh Visarjan Puja Vidhi, a Udwasana Mantra is chanted to move the Ganesh idol. After chanting this mantra, the idol is moved towards the North Eastern direction. After this process, the Mangal Aarti is performed, and the aarti rituals are completed. The Ganesh Idol is then taken for immersion.
