During the puja, fruits and flowers are offered to the Lord Vishnu. Prashad is prepared which is distributed after aarti. Devotees sing bhajans and also narrate legends of the Lord. The fasting ritual begins a day before Ekadashi. On this day, too, devotees consume saatvik meal before sunset. Even if an individual is not observing fast, consuming rice and grains on the day is strictly prohibited. It ends on the ‘dwadashi’ tithi.
