Seeking blessings from Lalbaugcha Raja is a wish every Lord Ganesh devotee has in his heart. One of Mumbai’s oldest and popular Lord Ganesh idols, Lalbaugcha Raja is the most famous Sarvajanik Ganapati during the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The organizers Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal have been keeping the huge idol of Lord Ganesha for public display since 1934. The Lalbaugcha Raja mukh darshan on Ganesh Chaturthi 2017 beginning on August 25 (Friday being Day 1) will be its 83rd year. With the darshan, charan sparsh (touching the feet of the idol) and aarti timings announced by the event organizers, devotees are expected to flock in numbers during the festival also known as Ganeshotsav or Vinayaka Chaturthi. Apart from visiting the famous Ganpati Pandal, devotees can also watch Aarti, Mukh Darshan with online streaming from Mumbai’s Famous Ganpati Pandal.
Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival celebrated to remember birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva and Mata Paravati. The Elephant God is said to be the most worshipped deity in the Hindu pantheon. He is regarded as the God of Fortune, Good Luck, New Beginnings, Prosperity, Buddhi (Knowledge) and remover of obstacles. It is believed that devotees praying to Ganesha have all their wishes fulfilled and as well as have their rocky paths of life cleared. The idol of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati is believed to be Navsacha Ganpati, which means the “one who fulfills all wishes”. It is the faith and powerful devotion that almost 1.5 million followers visit Lalbaugcha Raja on the ten days of Ganesh Chaturthi.
The craze to see the first look of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati idol is palpable. After the organizers released the official pictures of the grand statue, it has only got them seeing it in real. According to the information provided by the official website, Lalbaugcha Raja will be inaugurated on Friday early morning at 4 am on August 25, 2017, by the Mandal’s President Mr.Balasaheb Sudam Kamble who will also do the Pratishthapana Puja. Post the Puja, Lalbaugcha Raja 2017 darshan will be opened to all the devotees from early morning 6.00 AM onwards, and the Lalbaugcha Raja souvenir for 2017 will be published.
The morning Aarti will take place at 12.30 PM while the evening aarti will be held at 08.30 pm. Udhyanand Seva Mandal will manage the Jagran for the first night. Lalbaugcha Raja Darshan will be available for 24 hours from early morning 6.00 AM, Friday – 25th August 2017 onwards to Monday – 4th September 2017. Lalbaugcha Raja Charan Sparsh (touching the feet) and mukh Darshan will also be available for 24 hours from early morning 6.00 AM, Friday – 25th August 2017 onwards. The Charan Sparsh and much darshan will be closed on Monday – 4th September 2017, morning 10.00 am.
Despite massive arrangements made for the thousands of visitors, it can take up to 8 to 12 hours maximum in queues to catch a glimpse of Lalbaugcha Raja. But the hardships do not take a toll on devotees who are determined to seek blessings from the Lord Ganesha and pray to have their wishes fulfilled. Lalbaugcha Raja Maharaj also witnesses a string of celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Shilpa Shetty, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Rani Mukerji and others.
