Colombia’s 23-player World Cup squad was announced by coach Jose Pekerman with injured Monaco striker Radamel Falcao the main absentee. The talismanic striker will miss the World Cup after losing his battle to recover from the crushing knee injury he sustained playing for his club Monaco in January.

Colombia’s strike-force still seems potent with the likes of Jackson Martinez, Adrian Ramos and Víctor Ibarbo. The midfield will be powered with Fredy Guarin at the center while Monaco star James Rodriguez and Fiorentina’s Juan Guillermo Cuadrado will play on each flank.

The defenders include Milan’s Cristian Zapata, West Ham’s left-back Pablo Armero and 38-year-old Mario Alberto Yepes.
