The top scorers of the tournament, Belgium were defeated on the night by a formidable French side who took the led on the 51st minute of the game courtesy to a header from Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti.

Belgium started the game well and looked like the better side in the first half but France came back stronger with better tactics to contain Belgium’s attack in the second half.
‘Les blues’ made the most out of a set piece – corner through which they took the lead and then defended their end well.

France will now face either England or Croatia at the finals of the 21st edition of the FIFA World Cup in Moscow.

Belgium and France

But with so-called favorites already eliminated in Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Portugal, the 21st edition of the FIFA World Cup is panning out to be a story of the underdogs.
