If you’ve ever had that craving for Indian food but don’t have the time to make an extravagant meal then this Rajma recipe is for you!

Before you run to the grocery store, check your fridge and pantry, most of these ingredients you could already have at home. Feel free to adjust the level of spice to your liking!

Servings: 4

Ingredients:


  • 1 16 oz can of Red Kidney Beans
  • 1” of fresh ginger
  • 6-7 cloves of peeled garlic
  • 1 large white/yellow onion
  • 1 bottle Maggi Ketchup (Heinz will do)
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • ½ tsp Jaggery
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 green jalapeno

Directions:

1. Drain most of the water from the can of kidney beans.

2. Chop the jalapeno, onion, garlic into small, bite-sized pieces.

3. In a medium pot, heat oil. When the oil is hot add the mustard seeds and cumin. Seeds should pop.

4. Peel the ginger and cut into small pieces. When popping finishes, add turmeric, jalapeno, ginger, garlic, and onion. Add kidney beans, and half a bottle of Maggi ketchup.

5. Stir ingredients on a low boil until the sauce turns from light red to a dark red. Add jaggery and garam masala.

Serve with rice or roti, and enjoy!
