Most people find it easiest to make ginger tea. However, if you want to add even more relief to your pain, add turmeric to the ginger tea. Turmeric is known to act as a protector against cells damaging to the body and is a very resourceful medical supplement. To make this tea, boil a pot of hot water with ginger and add turmeric powder into the mix.

3. Elevate

So much of our time is spent walking–so it’s only natural that physical exhaustion will happen. Resting and elevating your knee allows the tissue, blood vessels, and lymph nodes to flow, reducing the inflammation and swelling (if there is any). Whether you’re sitting down or sleeping, try putting a few pillows under your knee.

4. Relax

Having knee pain can be a sign that you’re not getting enough vitamins or are at risk for arthritis. Foods that contain soy are great for relieving pain. Bell peppers, beans, dark leafy greens are also viable food options to maintain a healthy and pain-free lifestyle.

In particular, fish is known to fight against arthritis. However, if you’re not a fan of seafood, you can always take fish oil (omega 3) supplements to substitute. Additionally, red meat is known to increase your risk for developing arthritis, so it’s a good option to stay away from it.

9. Low-Impact Leg Exercises

Whether you’re recovering from surgery or working on strengthening your knee, finding the right exercise is important. While you may be eager to get back to your old self, exercises such as running and jogging may be a bit too ambitious. Start off with small stretches to help with bending your knees and gaining flexibility back. Swimming is also another great low-impact exercise that can help you work your way up to strengthening your knee.

10. Knee Supplements

If all these other remedies do not work, there are over the counter knee supplements you can take. These supplements can help with the knee pain and in most cases aid in regaining the ability to bend your knees.
