In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, staying fit and looking good is not just a choice; it’s a necessity. Whether it is to fit in a particular role or just merely out of reinvention, fitness in Bollywood is their currency. But under circumstances where celebrities are under constant pressure to look youthful, they often resort to fad diets or beauty trends for quick results; however, real transformation comes with discipline, consistency, and hard work. Celebrities are constantly trying new diets to keep up with the physical transformation and their public image intact. One such diet that has been creating so much buzz for its great impact is the OMAD diet, also known as One Meal A Day. This diet has gained a lot of popularity because of stars like Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan.
One Meal A Day, or OMAD, is a type of intermittent fasting in which the total caloric consumption for the day is taken in one one-hour period. The rest of the 23 hours, the person remains fasting and only has non-caloric liquids such as water, black coffee, or tea. As per Dr. Gupta, “The diet is believed to create a significant calorie deficit, which can lead to weight loss.”
This diet supports faster weight loss, insulin management, better digestion, and increased energy.
In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, while addressing his body dysmorphia, Karan Johar talks about his radical weight loss. Refuting all the speculations surrounding the application of weight-reduction drugs such as Ozempic or Mounjaro. Karan Johar talks about trying the OMAD diet for his weight loss. For seven months, he ate one meal a day only—roughly 8 or 8:30 p.m.—without gluten, sugar, and lactose. “I did it religiously and mercilessly,” he revealed, detailing how he took up almond milk because of slight lactose intolerance.
