Weight loss journeys are typically accompanied by challenges, willpower, and a change in lifestyle. Yamini Thapliyal, who is an HR manager, experienced a miraculous change, losing 25 kg to become healthy and confident. She was previously weighing 83 kg and was able to lower her weight to 59 kg through a well-balanced diet, regular workouts, and a strong mind. But her journey wasn’t all about losing weight; it was about regaining confidence and surmounting societal expectations. Here’s how she went about it.
Yamini never adhered to radical diets and did not go without the foods she loved. Instead, she practiced mindful eating. If she was in the mood for chocolate, she did not devour a whole bar but restricted herself to one or two portions. She carefully monitored the calorie content of her food and ensured that she savored her meals yet remained within healthy bounds.
Unlike most who indulge in fad diets, Yamini emphasized balance. She never cut out a food group from her diet altogether. Rather, she managed her portions and made sure she consumed everything in moderation. This sustainable method allowed her to keep her progress without depriving herself.
One of the major changes Yamini made was eliminating junk food. She quit taking processed and sugar-laden food and substituted those with clean and healthy foods. This change worked wonders for her weight loss as well as well-being.
Her workout routine contributed a lot towards her transformation. Yamini did workouts five times a week and included weight training, cardio, and functional training in her daily routine. Her weekly routine would include:
Each session used to take approximately 1.5 hours with 12-15 repetitions in each exercise. This routine regime made her shed fat and get stronger.
Yamini started training at home first and then moved to a gym. She added simple exercises such as running, climbing stairs, and skipping rope. Gradually, as her endurance increased, she went to a gym and started strength training, which further toned her body.
Shedding weight did not happen overnight. Yamini was dedicated to a disciplined regimen, and it took her a whole year to attain her ideal weight. Following the loss of fat, she concentrated on adding muscle to acquire a toned and fit body.
As with most individuals who start the weight loss process, Yamini was criticized and judged by her relatives and the society at large. She received comments about her weight, something that initially discouraged her, but rather than throw in the towel, she turned it into fire to motivate herself even more. Being overweight had also led to health problems that she overcame by adopting fitness.
At some point, individuals mocked her appearance and judged her by how she looked. But Yamini demonstrated that change is achievable through discipline and determination. She is now an inspiration to many who have weight problems and lack self-confidence.
Yamini’s journey is a reminder that fitness is not about extreme diets or quick fixes but about long-term, sustainable changes. Through mindful eating, regular exercise, and perseverance, she successfully achieved her fitness goals while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Her story encourages others to take charge of their health, face criticism with confidence, and stay consistent on their journey to self-improvement.
