Aaron Finch’s century, Mitchell Marsh’s fifer and Steve Finn’s hat trick and dramatic last wicket summarised the second match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 as Australia defeated England in an one-sided affair by huge margin of 111 runs at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The second match of CWC 2015 saw superb individual efforts and had its own top moments. Take a look at top five highlights from Australia vs England clash:

1. David Warner and Aaron Finch opening stand

Australia were given a solid start by their openers David Warner and Aaron Finch. Despite Warner being the in-form player, it was Finch who looked more destructive of the two players on Saturday. Warner departed making 22 runs off 18 deliveries while Finch went on to make century in Oz’s first match itself. Australia also maintained their unbeaten record in World Cup editions every time they have had a 50 or more runs partnership. Also See: Australia vs England, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Picture Gallery: AUS beat ENG by 111 runs in Pool A Match 2

2. Aaron Finch’s clinical knock of 135

After being given a lifeline by Chris Woakes in the first over, there was no looking back for Aaron Finch. The Opening batsman finished his half-century in 42 deliveries and later guided the four-time World Champions to the mammoth total with his sixth century. He finally departed at the score of 135 that included 12 fours and 3 sixes. Also Read: Australia beat England, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Match Report: Aaron Finch’s costly drop, Glenn Maxwell show and Steven Finn’s bizarre hat-trick

3. Glenn Maxwell knocks a quick-fire half century

You cannot keep this man out of action! Glenn Maxwell right from the first minute on crease hammered opposition bowlers to take the total beyond English’s side reach. In company of Mitchell Marsh and Brad Haddin, Glenn Maxwell ripped bowling line-up consisting of Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Steve Finn and Chris Woakes. He finished with 66 in 40 deliveries.

4. Steve Finn takes first hat trick of the tournament

The first hat trick of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 was taken by England pacer Steven Finn picked up 5/71, coming in the last three deliveries of the innings. Finn’s hat-trick at the end brought some smiles across the English faces but their batsmen have a huge task ahead as history shows that Australia have never lost after scoring 300-plus runs while batting first.

5. Mitchell Marsh’s fifer breaks England’s backbone

Mitchell Marsh got off to a dream start in his maiden World Cup as he hit the final nail in coffin. He claimed five English wickets to leave them in lurch. Chasing a score of 343 was a difficult task right from the beginning but was made impossible by Marsh’s onslaught.
