After series of bad flops, the Bangladeshi opener came to Bangladesh’s rescue and play an all-important role in chasing side’s biggest target. He made 95 runs helping the Asian side get past the big target of 319 set by Scotland. 2. Mahumudullah
Bangladesh side is mostly about Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, but the 29-year-old has been a handy character for the side. Promoted up at No. 3 against Scotland while chasing big 300 plus target, Mahmudullah played handsome innings of 65, more importantly stitching solid partnership with Tamim Iqbal. His all-round skills, chipping both with bat and ball when the need arrives makes him a prized addition. He was part of the Bangladesh 2011 Cricket World Cup squad when the side downed England and he would be prepared to do it once more.
3. Joe Root
It was sad affair for Joe Root to be on the losing side after posting his maiden World Cup century. His 121 helped England post 310 target for Sri Lanka which was easily chased down in the end with Sri Lanka winning the match by 9 wickets. But his side would like him to continue the good form and not let the bowlers disappoint in this crucial tie.
