1. English pacers strike early
After opting to bowl first, English lead bowlers James Anderson and Stuart Broad, whose lackluster performances hurt England’s chances in the ICC World Cup 2015 came good against Afghanistan openers. Apart from Broad and Anderson, the other bowlers Chris Jordan, James Tredwell and Ravi Bopara bowled well to not allow Afghanistan an easy life on crease. 2. Afghanistan batting line-up disappoint
Afghanistan playing their first world cup edition has been satisfactory with their performance. Despite lacking the experience, Afghans batting line-up has managed to put up a gritty show every time they took on crease but not today at Sydney Cricket Ground. 3. Ian Bell maintains his good run
English opener Ian Bell continued to remain among runs despite his team’s miserable run in the tournament. His last five innings score read (52* against Afghanistan, 63 against Bangladesh, 54 against Scotland, 8 against New Zealand and 36 against Australia) suggest some hope left in England side when they sit down to restructure the side post ouster. New entrant Alex Hales also looked impressive as he partnered Bell for 83 runs against Afghans in Group A Friday clash.
