India and MS Dhoni recorded an astounding 11th consecutive World Cup win and his 100th as captain as Bangladesh were swatted aside by a team in total control of their craft and know-how that is far superior than the rest of the teams in the ICC World Cup 2015. India are yet to be given a proper test in the tournament as they march into the semi-finals with supreme authority, awaiting Australia or Pakistan. The margin was massive yet again: 109 runs as Rohit Sharma (137) roared back to form in what largely an innings of patience, but switched to brutal mode towards the end of the innings. Suresh Raina’s contribution was equally important as the fired up Bangladeshis had India in the palm of their hand for the first 30 overs. Tamim Iqbal showed glimpses of his potential early on as Bangladesh started off positively. Any semblance of optimism came crashing as Tamim nicked an Umesh Yadav delivery to Dhoni. Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliant ground-fielding sent Imrul Kayes packing but it was Shikhar Dhawan who stole the show on the field, juggling the ball centimeters before the ropes. Wickets fell at regular intervals and Indians were sniffing a win.
Nasir Hossain and Sabbir Rehman got together to stage a comeback after Bangladesh were six down. Both batsmen took on the spinners to play some fearless shots. The target was out of their reach and the Indian bowlers were constantly testing and probing as Bangladesh folded out. The pace trio of Mohammed Shami , Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav were yet again the heroes. Rohit Sharma though, will be thankful for a wrong no-ball call when he was on 91, where he holed out in the deep but overall, it was yet another well deserved win.
