The Dublin-born player playing his 14th match played the role of perfect partner to Joyce in the steady 138-third wicket opening stand. He was more aggressive of the two players as he made 97 off just 79 deliveries before being run out. He was well on route to his maiden century but the innings helped Ireland reach mammoth and probably match winning total.
