Champions can be on one side, but when God walks by, it is a completely different scenario. The 90,000-odd capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was buzzing with excitement when the home side Australia romped home with glorious 2015 Cricket World Cup 7 wickets win over New Zealand but the moment cricket’s greatest legend Sachin Tendulkar’s name was announced, the cheers doubled up. But what was ironical–in fact hilarious, if you ask us–was to see while Sachin’s presence on the podium at the presentation ceremony invited a lot of warmth and cheers from the spectators, ICC’s chairman himself N Srinivasan was booed by the crowd!

If you did not believe us, you would have to watch it for yourself the dramatically opposite treatments meted out to two personalities from India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. On one hand, it was India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar bagged the loudest and overwhelming cheers, on the other hand ex-BCCI president and ICC Chairman, N Srinivasan was meted with jeers and boos from the Melbourne crowd. He was almost snubbed by the crowd that showed no hesitation to make their feelings known.

The reason behind unceremonious behavior towards known face of cricketing world, N Srinivasan’s decision to breach the International Cricket Council’s body. Bangladesh president Mustafa Kamal was supposedly the first choice to present the awards during final ceremony but his open displeasure regarding India’s quarter-final clash with Bangladesh, made Srinivasan step into shoes. And this did not go down well with the crowd at MCG who were joined in by the Twitterati and continued with the bashing of Mr. Chairman on social media.

In what was truly a memorable moment for all the Indians watching this live even back home, one could not help feeling the proud moment as Tendulkar was called to present awards during ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 awards ceremony.

Tendulkar was the biggest name on dais during the presentations after Australia beat New Zealand by seven wickets to lift their fifth World Cup trophy, this time under the retiring Michael Clarke.

As the name of the on-stage dignitaries, including ICC Chairman N Srinivasan, were read out by presenter Mark Nicholas, MCG let out a thunderous cheer for Tendulkar as he waved at the capacity crowd with a smile on his face.
