With league stage of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 coming to an end, eight teams have made it to quarterfinals, four each from Group A and B. New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from Group A advanced to next round and from Group B defending champions India, South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies progressed. The action went all down to last match of league stage between Pakistan and Ireland to fill the final slots remaining for the quarterfinals and it was Pakistan and West Indies who secured the openings
India and New Zealand topped their respective Groups by finishing league stage unbeaten, winning all their six matches. Bangladesh’s entry into quarterfinals was somewhat surprising, given England’s form and team combination, but Tigers eliminated them to book themselves a place for a first time in Knock-out stage of World Cup.
The winner of 1st quarterfinal will face the winner of 4th quarterfinal in the first semi-final at Eden Park, Auckland on March 24.
The winner of 2nd quarterfinal will face the winner of 3rd quarterfinal in the second semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground on March 26.
