United States: A Telangana man was shot dead in the US by the California police in early September. The techie, who identifies as Mohammed Nizamuddin, was a 30-year-old individual working at EPAM Systems.
Just days before getting shot by the cops, he had uploaded a controversial post on LinkedIn. In the post, Nizammudin explained the racial prejudice and discrimination against him by the employees and seniors of his company. The man was shot dead after he allegedly stabbed his roommate with a knife on September 3. The death of this Indian techie has sparked online outrage among people. The family of the victim has requested the assistance of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to bring his body back.
Why was the Indian techie shot?
The Indian man shot dead in California is Mohammed Nizamuddin, a techie. He was shot dead after he allegedly used a knife to stab his roommate on September 3. This incident took place at his accommodation in Santa Clara. According to the police, Mohammad had pinned down his roommate, who suffered multiple injuries in the attack.
The shot techie had a master’s degree in computer science from Florida College. He was described as a calm and devout individual by his family.
What did the techie say about discrimination?
Days before death, Nizamuddin had posted about being a “victim of racial hatred”. He even called to put an end to “American mentality”.
The victim stated that he was wrongfully terminated from his job and was even paid unfairly. According to him, the situation became worse when he was told to vacate his accommodation.
In the post, he wrote, “I have been a victim of racial hatred, racial discrimination, racial harassment, torture, wage-fraud, wrongful termination and obstruction of Justice. Today I decided to raise my voice against all odds. Enough is enough, white supremacy/racist white American mentality has to end. Oppression of corporate tyrants must end and everyone involved in it must be punished severely.”
What’s the demand of the victim’s family?
Nizamuddin’s family had requested a fair investigation into the matter. They had alleged racial discrimination by the company. It’s because Mohammad Nizamuddin had initially said, “My food was poisoned and now I am being evicted out of my current residence for fighting against unjust.”
He clearly mentioned that his main aggressors are his colleagues, employer, client, detective, and their community, and further wrote, “They are the trouble makers and oppressors behind the current chaos, not me. It is happening with me today, and it can happen with anyone tomorrow. So I ask the world to do the needful in demanding justice against the oppression and wrong-doings of people involved. I totally understand I am no saint, but they need to understand they are no God.”
The Santa Clara police are investigating the case. However, the family has looked for the assistance of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to bring Nizamuddin’s body back from Santa Clara.
