Has Sonakshi Sinha done justice to the iconic Sridevi track?

MUMBAI — The makers of “Force 2” have released a new song from the movie titled “O Janiya,” and Sonakshi Sinha is seen in a hot avatar in this Neha Kakkar-rendered song.

The track is a re-creation of the cult Kishore Kumar-Alisha Chinai duet “Kaate Nahin Kat-te Yeh Din Yeh Raat” from the 1987 film “Mr. India” starring Sridevi with Anil Kapoor. It was written by Javed Akhtar and composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The song, in those days, set a benchmark for classy desi erotica.

And so Sinha says: “We are not trying to equal the song, which is impossible. But we have fused EDM music, which is the flavor of the times.”

By re-creation standards, the song is indeed tolerable and pleasant to hear. And it has an interesting original prelude composed by Gouruv Roshin and written by Kumaar.
