
Chennai Super Kings finish the 20 overs with a total of 150 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. CSK has set a target of just 151 runs for the Delhi Daredevils to chase on a batting pitch. The CSK bowlers will really need to hammer the DD batsmen till they make a mistake or keep them playing defensive shots if they want to win the game.
Chennai Super Kings got off to a blistering start with 16 runs from the first over all thanks to Dwayne Smith’s boundary wagon. But, Brendon McCullum got caught trying to join the party after a wild shot got him 4 instead of getting caught in the slips. Faf du Plessis took the charge along with Dwayne Smith. Dwayne Smith got out after scoring 34 runs as the third wicket fell with 71 runs on the score board. du Plessis fell to Duminy’s bowling after scoring 32 runs. Ravindra Jadeja tried a few shots and added 17 runs to the CSK total before being completely fooled by Amit Mishra and getting stumped miles of of the crease. [Watch the match live here]
MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo playing together looked promising but Domnic Joseph had other plans as he got Bravo leg before wicket for just 1 run. Chennai has lost wicket at regular intervals and the batting that had the fans looking at a target of over 180 runs started praying that CSK play the entire 20 overs with the score board showing Chennai’s score at 120 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Suresh Raina, the newly wed also failed to have any impact in the game with just 4 runs coming from him. All eyes on MS Dhoni to prove why he the master of the death overs but Nathan Coulter-Nile bowling dot balls was not impressing the Chennai crowd.
A little over 2 overs left and only 120 runs on the board, will Delhi Daredevils be able to restrict Chennai Super Kings to a total of under 150 runs? It certainly seems like it at the current run rate of 6.78. Ravichandran Ashwin’s boundary gives a glimmer of hope for the home crowd to cheer about something.
The penultimate over by Imran Tahir gets CSK 9 runs with CSK 134/6 with just 6 balls to go. MS Dhoni goes into overdrive and gets a couple of 6s but another monster hit is mistimed and he gets caught out with a ball to go and CSK with 148 runs on the score board.
