The eighth edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence from April 8 with the same eight teams from last season set to battle for glory. Like its previous editions, the IPL 8 too features the group stage with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. The winner of each match receives two points, losing side remains with no points while a no result/tie means that the teams will share the points. There will be 56 matches played in the first stage. The teams finishing among the top two in the will battle it out in qualifier 1 for a direct place in the final. Meanwhile, the two teams finishing third and fourth will vie in the eliminator and the winner earns a qualifier 2 match with the losing franchise from qualifier 1. The victorious team from qualifier 2 will take on the winner of qualifier 1 for the coveted silverware.
