New Delhi, Aug 1: Google has hired a 16-year-old Indian student named Harshit Sharma at an annual salary of Rs 1.44 crore. Harshit hails from Chandigarh. Reports suggest that Harshit will join the graphic designing team of Google in the United States. Harshit Sharma is the student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, GMSSS, Sector 33, Chandigarh. Harshit will undergo a training session for one year at Google. The company will pay him the monthly stipend of Rs 4 lakh. After the training, Harshit will be getting a monthly salary of Rs 12 lakh. Latest Update, however, on the news suggests that the story is not yet confirmed. In a statement, Harshit said that “I kept searching for jobs online. I applied for this job in May and was interviewed online. I have been interested in graphic designing for the past 10 years. I was selected on the basis of the posters I designed.” Harshit applied for a job in Google through a link available online. He had received the appointment letter in the month of June. He stated that “During my school time, I used to make posters of both Bollywood and Hollywood stars and earned Rs 40,000-50,000. While the internet buzzed with the news, the actual veracity of the claims have not been confirmed as yet.
As per the story carried in Hindustan Times, Harshit studied information technology in Class 11th. His father and mother both are teachers in a school. Harshit has also been awarded a cash price of Rs 7000 under the Prime Minister’s Digital India scheme. Google offers great opportunities for the deserving candidates.
