Karnataka SHOCKER: Cop Stabs Wife To Death Outside Hassan SP Office As She Goes To File Complaint Against Him

A 48-year-old police constable, Lokanath, stabbed his wife to death outside the SP office in Hassan, Karnataka, where she had gone lodge a complaint against him.

Karnataka News: A police constable allegedly stabbed stabbed his wife to death outside the office of Superintendent of Police in Hassan district after she reached there to lodge a complaint against him on Monday in connection with a family dispute.

According to the police, the accused, 48-year-old Lokanath, allegedly stabbed his wife, Mamatha, twice on a pavement outside the SP’s office where the victim had gone to file a complaint against him.

A senior police official said, Lokanatha– a constable in the Karnataka Police posted at a police station in Hassan city– had frequent fights with his wife over the past few days over some land dispute.

On Monday, Mamatha ran to the SP office for help where she was stabbed to death by her husband, he said.

“Looking at the guards at the entrance, she came running into the SP office for help. Seeing her, two policemen rushed to help her while others prevented him (the constable) from reaching out to her,” the officer said, adding that Mamatha was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to injuries.

Police said the accused constable has been taken into custody and booked for murder, adding that further investigation is underway.

“As per the family’s claim, there were family disputes and it is being suspected that the issue was because of some land dispute which was going on between them,” said Hassan Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Sujeetha M S

“There were no previous FIRs or any petition that has come to any police station regarding this issue. We are investigating the matter based on the complaint received,” the SP added.
