Karnataka Sex Tape Scandal: Prajwal Revanna was arrested by SIT team in Benglauru on wee hours of Friday.

Bengaluru: In the latest development in the obscene video case, Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, accused in the case of sexually assaulting multiple women, was arrested in Bengaluru in the wee hours of Friday. A team of Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Revanna from the Kempegowda International Airport soon after he arrived from Germany. He was taken to the CID office for interrogation. Notably, Revanna is the NDA candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. He left India in April after clips showing him allegedly sexually abusing women.

As many as three rape cases have been registered against Prajwal far.

Recently, Revanna released a video message stating he would be arrested on May 31 before the SIT and will cooperate with the probe, claiming that the cases filed against him were false.

He returned to India from Berlin, Germany, nearly a month after leaving the country on a diplomatic passport and was immediately taken into custody. He will be produced in court later today in connection with the alleged obscene video case.

The SIT team confiscated two of his check-in bags and took them away in a separate car. Security was stepped up outside the CID office in Bengaluru, and barricades were put outside the office ahead of Revanna’s arrival.

Revanna is facing a probe by the SIT over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman who worked in his household.

The anticipatory bail plea filed by Revanna on May 29 is still pending in court. Revanna’s anticipatory bail plea was filed hours after the SIT arrested two prime accused in connection with the case.

According to police sources, the accused were arrested when they appeared before the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. Arrested Chetan Gowda and Naveen Gowda allegedly distributed pen drives containing videos of Prajwal Revanna sexually assaulting women.

Earlier, Prajwal stated that he went into “depression ” after the sex scandal broke out, claiming that “political forces” are behind it.

“Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders started campaigning against me in open forums, and politically conspiring against me. I went into depression and isolation,” he said in the video.
